Who we are.
We are an integrated counselling practice serving the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. Our practice is driven by a client-centered approach and encourages an active and collaborative therapeutic partnership. At Apricot, we believe wellness has never before been such an important point of conversation. Our modern world is rich with opportunities to connect with others and share our lives anywhere, anytime; and yet, with digital connections bringing us closer together it is all too easy to become hooked into unhelpful patterns, leaving us feeling less than “well”. For others, it is past experiences that replay in the mind, like a movie with the volume on max, holding us back from being present. To top it off, our choices in self-care and rest oftentimes act in the opposite ways we intend. Sound familiar? Sitting in Acceptance and Turning Towards Change
At times, life can feel overwhelming and can be difficult to acknowledge. While distraction can be an easy strategy to help us cope, it inevitably leads to difficulties in many different aspects of our lives. We are here to support the exploration of helpful strategies to replace the unhelpful ones; this starts with acceptance of the present - the good, the bad, and the otherwise. It is through this acceptance that we learn to notice what changes we wish to make and what steps we can take to get there. Life is a Beautiful, Multidimensional Thing
We believe the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Taking a closer look at the intersections between our different systems - mind, body, and spirit - allows for meaningful change. Oftentimes, we believe our struggles lie in a particular situation or circumstance; and yet, when we take a closer look we recognize that obstacles are typically multifaceted. Our biopsychosocial approach informs our conversations to ensure support and planning makes sense for you. Taking time to discover the true you in the present moment allows us, together, to plan for an authentically hopeful tomorrow.

Meet Lauren, B.Ed, MA, RCC | Founder
Biography
Hi, I’m Lauren.
I was born and raised in British Columbia, Canada. My counselling experience is a bit eclectic, having both experiences working within BC school districts and more traditional clinical settings. I began my career working as a classroom educator turned school counsellor, supporting the social and emotional well-being of children aged 5-13. Later on, I gained clinical experience, working with children, youth, and adults with a variety of strengths and abilities in both group and individual settings. I consider myself a curious observer, constantly humbled by the amazing individuals I have had the fortune of meeting along the way.
Education and Theoretical Orientation
I am a registered clinical counsellor and a member of the British Columbia Registered Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). I received my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Yorkville University and am trained in both dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
I am intrigued by the connection between our different human systems and how these relationships inform our daily well-being. How do we stop living in the constant noise of our minds? Why does chronic pain truly remain chronic? Where do addiction and distraction really stem from? It will take open and honest conversations to answer these important questions, will you join me? In any quality counselling relationship, there will be two experts present. I am committed to bringing my knowledge and experience with the therapeutic process to our conversations and you will bring your expertise on the most important component of wellness - you.
